Carmageddon‘s back! Or, it will should you choose to fund it.
Developer Stainless Games has opened up a Kickstarter for Carmageddon: Reincarnation, a reboot of the 1997 racer.
The studio recently reacquired rights to the franchise and is now looking for $400,000 to give themselves a chance to make a new game and keep complete control of the project while at it, “with no EVIL corporate investor or publisher telling us that we can’t run over old ladies or set fire to cows,” Stainless founder and CEO Patrick Buckland says.
With 28 days to go, the project has already raised over $110,000, so chances of it reaching the $400K look rather excellent.
Adds co-founder Neil Barnden: “Carmageddon Reincarnation encapsulates all that is wrong – and therefore right – with video games. We will stay true to Carmageddon‘s roots while adding a ton more over-the-top, outrageous content.”
The effort’s Kickstarter page is here, have at it. Once the necessary funds are raised, the studio’s hoping to release the game by February 2013, via Steam.
