And with this rumor, we’re officially one step closer to Minority Report-level computing.
The Verge reports that Microsoft is testing a modified version of Internet Explorer 9 that will run on its Xbox 360 console, bringing full-fledged internet browsing to the system. This version of IE9 will be “tuned for Kinect usage,” though to what extent isn’t clear just yet. Voice control as well as gesture recognition are all said to be a part of the integration, though The Verge’s sources say using Kinect will be optional for users.
No word yet as to a release date or when we’ll get a formal confirmation or announcement from Microsoft. For now, we’ll just have to make due with watching Minority Report.
