Stop press. After nearly 8 years World of Warcraft is, contrary to popular belief, doing just fine. After a bit of a drop from the heady heights of 12 million subscribers back in 2010 to the still impressive 10 million after the launch of SWTOR, WoW seems to have stabilised around the 10.2 million mark.
During a financial call Blizzard president Mike Morhaime confirmed that they’ve managed to regain control and hold their subscriber count above the all important 10 million mark. No doubt the masses of restoration items released onto the market recently have helped out quite a bit, and I imagine that the upcoming release of their latest expansion pack Mists of Pandaria will give them a healthy kick in the right direction. Love it or hate it, one thing’s for sure, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
