All may not be well in Amalur.
A report by NBC 10 in Rhode Island revealed that state officials have been in discussions with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning developer 38 Studios, which was founded by former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling.
“We’re always working to keep Rhode Island companies solvent, and that’s what we’re doing with 38 Studios,” Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee said. “We’re working with 38 Studios on different issues. That’s all I can report right now.” 38 Studios was founded in Massachusetts but later packed up for Rhode Island in 2010 when the state offered a $75 million loan guarantee.
Aside from Reckoning, the only other project listed on 38 Studios’ website is the in-development MMO Copernicus. Reckoning sold over 400,000 copies across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, which doesn’t sound like a bust, but perhaps the company had grander plans for its first big release.
