Next-gen “a key part” of THQ’s strategy; publisher prepping early titles

THQ will be bringing its wares to next-gen consoles near or even at launch, the troubled publisher has said. That includes both new properties as well as existing franchises.

“A key part of our strategy is to build franchises for the next generation of consoles at or shortly after they are launched,” CEO Brian Farrell revealed while speaking on the company’s recent earnings call.

“We have promising new games that are positioned well for introduction early in the next cycle. We also have several franchises that we can continue to build from the current to the next-generation.”

THQ’s in-development titles include a Crytek-led sequel to Homefront, del Toro’s Insane trilogy, a new Saints Row, as well a hush-hush project from Patrice Desilets of Prince of Persia and Assassin’s Creed fame. Take your pick.
