UK Charts: Max beats Diablo

With two of the year’s biggest title’s releasing in the last seven days, it’s been an interesting week for the UK charts.

Ultimately, though, it was Rockstar’s Max Payne 3 that came out on top, closely followed by Blizzard’s Diablo III. The long-awaited dungeon crawler had released last Tuesday, giving it a head start, but we’re guessing Max’s multiplatform existence coupled with an extensive (and exhaustive) marketing campaign won him the day.

Things return to normal after that; FIFA Street takes third, while Sniper Elite V2 and FIFA 12 round out the top five. Prototype 2, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Assassin’s Creed and Mario and Sonic take the last five places respectively.

This week brings with it the release of both Dragon’s Dogma and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier among others. How will they shape the charts?

Now let’s get that top 10 in list form.

1. Max Payne 3
2. Diablo III
3. FIFA Street
4. Sniper Elite V2
5. FIFA 12
6. Prototype 2
7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
8. Battlefield 3
9. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
10. Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics
