Apple “not interested” in traditional console business

Apple? In the console business? Not going to happen. At least, not in the traditional sense.

Speaking at the D10 conference, the giant’s CEO Tim Cook said that “gaming has kind of evolved a bit” and that Apple isn’t interested competing with the likes of Microsoft and Sony.

“More people play on portable devices,” he said. “Where we might go in the future, we’ll see. Customers love games. I’m not interested in being in the console business in what is thought of as traditional gaming. But Apple is a big player today and things in the future will only make that bigger.”

That right there doesn’t rule out the company making efforts towards the gaming space then, but it’s probably best not to get your hopes up for an Apple-branded games console.
