Warner Bros. Interactive has announced that it will be bringing a reboot of the classic game Spy Hunter to both 3DS and PS Vita handheld consoles. The announcement comes with a new trailer.
Players will once again take control of “Agent”, this time armed with the G-6155 Interceptor super car. The G-6155 comes equipped with plenty of firepower as well as the ability to transform into an off-road vehicle and a speed boat. As upgrades are unlocked, players will also be able to customize weapon loadouts for their vehicle. A new feature to the game is the ability to control an unarmed aerial drone.
The reboot comes 30 years after the original Spy Hunter arcade classic was released. In 2001, it was introduced to game consoles when it was released on PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox. Two sequels followed with the most recent iteration in 2006. The 2006 sequel wasn’t as successful due in part to the tie-in movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson getting stuck in production limbo and eventually trashed.
Under development by UK-based studio TT Fusion, who have worked on several LEGO series games, Spy Hunter is due to release some time this fall.
