Silicon Knights appealing Epic loss

Perhaps befitting a company whose name revolves around knighthood, Silicon Knights will continue its fight with Epic Games.

No swords and shields in this fight, however, as SK and Epic are doing battle in the courtroom, with the jury finding for Epic on all counts of accusations that Silicon Knights broke a licensing agreement for Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 yesterday, which will require Silicon Knights to pay $4.45 million in damages.

SK head Denis Dyack doesn’t appear discouraged, as he told GamesIndustry that they “are disappointed by the outcome and we plan on appealing.” Dyack didn’t elaborate any further, and we’ll have to see how this all plays out over the next several months.
