Activision’s Call of Duty XP event has turned out not to be an annual event; the publishing giant has confirmed that the fan gathering will be skipping 2012.
“Last year’s Call of Duty XP was a great way to celebrate our Call of Duty community and reveal Call of Duty Elite,” the company tells Polygon in a statement.
“While its possible we may host another XP in the future, we don’t have plans to hold the event this year.”
As for this year, there is still something in store: “Each year we try to surprise and delight our fans and this year we are planning to host some new experiences for our fans around the globe including at gamescom later this summer in Cologne, Germany.”
Last year’s XP saw the full reveal of Call of Duty Elite as well as Modern Warfare 3‘s multiplayer component. The event’s live stream was, according to Activision, the second most-watched in history.
