Sledgehammer pounding away on new Call of Duty

Not that it comes as any big surprise but, according to a discovered job listing, Sledgehammer Games is working on a new Call of Duty title.

Discovered by Videogamer, the listing (since removed) call for a Senior FX Artist to help “create the most exceptional real-time effects with hyper realism for [its] next Call of Duty game”.

A listing found back in December revealed that Sledgehammer was at work on the new game, though this latest listing seemingly confirms a current-gen release; “solid professional experience and knowledge of the limitations and performance of current generation hardware (360, PS3)” is also asked for.

Sledgehammer was formed by Activision to work on a new spin-off back in early 2010, which got shelved due to troubles that arose around Infinity Ward’s leadership around the same time. The studio ended up working with IW on last year’s Modern Warfare 3 instead.

It’s unclear if they’re tackling the new game alone or are once more co-oping it with Infinity Ward.
