THQ to focus on low-cost AAA, next-gen F2P titles

With THQ’s new boss comes a change in direction; going forward, the publisher will be focusing on low-cost AAA titles and free-to-play releases, of all things.

Obsidian’s South Park: The Stick of Truth is brought as a sample of the first, Gamasutra reports. To break even, the game would have to sell 2 million units, a figure the publisher feels it can surpass.

As for the F2P titles, those are said to primarily target next-gen hardware. A significant portion of the company’s income is believed to become reliant on the model in the future.
