Nintendo needs to price Wii U around or below $300 in order for it to take off, Wedbush crystal baller Michael Pachter has said. With no Wii Sports-like killer app on the table, the analyst feels “the console must be priced below $300 to succeed, in my opinion, and best at $249 or less,” he’s told CVG.
He further says: “Nintendo is intent upon repeating their success with the Wii.
“While I agree that the Wii U controller is sufficiently novel and different from traditional controllers, I am not sure that there is a killer app that will drive Wii U adoption the way Wii Sports did for the Wii.”
Nintendo is yet to give specifics on the console’s pricing and specific launch dates. Ubisoft has suggested it could be hitting shelves in November though.
