Don’t bet on seeing Darksiders III anytime soon

For a company in such financial turmoil, developer/publisher THQ keeps finding ways to keep its name bouncing around the keyboards of intrepid videogame news bloggers (ourselves included, naturally).

In an interview with online publication The Verge, new THQ president Jason Rubin says that while he’s excited about what developer Vigil Games is cooking up for the upcoming Darksiders II, slated to release in August, he doesn’t plan on putting them back to work right away on another Darksiders-oriented project once the sequel hits store shelves.

Darksiders 2 is very interesting but I think I can get that team to make other very interesting games,” Rubin said.

While it’s not an outright comment that we’ll never see the Darksiders franchise become a trilogy, perhaps it’s wise that we enjoy Darksiders II all that we can when it releases on August 14th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, with a Wii U edition to follow.
