Nintendo working on next generation handheld

It looks like there will be no 3DSi or 3DS XL in the works for Nintendo. Instead, Shigeru Miyamoto has stated Nintendo is hard at work on their next handheld.

“I really feel like I’m satisfied with the 3DS hardware as it is. I feel like it’s the best for this generation,” Miyamoto told IGN.

There probably isn’t any need to worry about current 3DSs becoming outdated any time soon though. It is normal for companies to begin developing ‘next generation’ products before launch day.

Miyamoto feels there is plenty of potential for the current hardware and 3D gaming, including the 3DS’s gyroscope serving as a substitute second stick.
