Mojang replicating Minecraft model for Scrolls

Remember the good few years Minecraft spent in ‘beta’ before the full launch? Scrolls, Mojang’s next, will be doing the same thing.

The upcoming game will enter a paid beta period before full release. Company co-founder Jakob Porser commented on the title’s official website, saying: “We are rapidly approaching the closed alpha of Scrolls.”

Said alpha will test “multiplayer matches, single player matches vs AI, and the Deck Builder”. For those scratching their heads; Scrolls is a card-based game. When it comes to the beta there will be “a reduced price … with some added benefits”.

Are we looking at the next Minecraft-sized hit or something more of a cult classic from the Swedish developers?
