It’s been 5 years since the release of Halo 3 on Xbox 360, that’s a long time to wait for your next Chief fix so it’s a good job that there’s so much on offer. Along with a brand new campaign we can also look forward to 50 extra co-op missions totaling a whole 12 hours of extra gameplay.
These extra missions will be available as season 1 of the new Spartan Ops mode, an episodic adventure that follows the Majestic Squad aboard the UNSC Infinity. Season 1 will be completely free of charge, giving you five new missions each week for a total of 10 weeks. As of yet there has been no news on how much season 2 onward will set you back, although it’s a pretty safe bet it’s not going to be free.
Considering the amount of day one DLC available for many games and the price of some of them, it’s nice to see a slightly more wallet friendly business model being used here. To offer so much for nothing 343 Industries must be pretty confident that you’ll come back for more and I for one can’t wait to see if they’re right.
Halo 4 is set to release on the 6th of November.
