Limbo springs out of purgatory for special edition

Freaky 2D platformer Limbo was a surprise Xbox Live Arcade hit.

Using German expressionist cinema as an inspiration, coupled with trial and error gameplay involving the frequent horrific death of a child doesn’t exactly tick all the boxes of commercial success, but developer Playdead did just that.

Limbo is a solid argument that games can be considered as art, as well as great platform/puzzler, so with the special edition boasting DRM-free PC and Mac versions of the game, a stand-alone soundtrack, art cards, and 3D glasses, there’s plenty here even for those with it already sat on their hard drive.

Limbo Special Edition is available at retailers now, to be hand delivered by the souls of the recently deceased.
