Documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), have surfaced revealing that Sony plans to release a new PS3 model. This new model would be part of a new 4000 series.
More specifically, the model number will be CECH-4000x. According to the document, the x will denote the different hard disk specification.
The FCC label position on the CECH-4000 model is different. The document doesn’t mention specific dimensions, but Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Worldwide studios, dropped hints last month of a new PS3 design.
Though there is already a PS3 slim, we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of Sony releasing an even slimmer console with a price drop to wrangle in late adopters before moving on to the PS4.
