Popular Japanese videogame magazine Famitsu published its sales numbers early this week, and the data reveals a large increase in PS Vita sales in Japan. The numbers show that 22,638 PS Vita consoles were sold in Japan between June 25th and July 1st. This comes at a 75% increase from the prior week when Sony sold around 13,000 consoles.
With the release of the new Crystal White edition of the console, as well as the release of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection for the console the increase in sales is somewhat expected. Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection sales were similar, with 23,586 copies sold during the week.
The PS Vita was the number two selling console in Japan for the week, as the Nintendo 3DS was still the leader selling 65,267 units.
