Activision announced a new title under the Walking Dead license today, which will feature first person-action and, shocker, zombies. Lots of zombies. With so many zombie titles coming out these days, what sets this one apart is the license, as the television show and comic book have a large following. The game, which will be developed by Terminal Reality, will follow the story laid out in the comic book, so fans of the television series can look forward to some fresh content they may be unfamiliar with.
The game appears to take place before the events of the television show, as the trailer (which can be see on IGN) features the line “before the farm, before Atlanta, they were just brothers.” The game follows country boy Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle, as they attempt to cross the Georgia countryside to Atlanta where they believe they will be safer.
Gameplay will follow the FPS formula, with emphasis on conserving and managing the limited resources found in the game world. Daryl and Merle will have to use both strategy and stealth as will as resource management to deal with the zombies which will reportedly be able to track them from sight, sound and even smell.
The game will reportedly feature a variety of other characters which gamers can interact with as they see fit. The decisions they make may affect how the storyline progresses. Look for this post-zombie apocalypse shooter on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2013.
