What do X-men: First Class and Assassin’s Creed have in common?

Michael Fassbender. The actor known for his incredible role as Magneto in X-Men First Class is now attached to the Assassin’s Creed movie. Variety writes that he will play the leading role Desmond Miles and co-produce the film as well.

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.” These things are definitely evident in his recent roles in Prometheus and Haywire.

Ubisoft has decided to develop the movie independently, keeping the writing and production in house. Sony could potentially distribute the film, but Ubisoft ultimately has creative control.┬áThis should be great news to Assassin’s Creed fans, since this shows that Ubisoft is committed to getting the story that’s already in place out to the world, as opposed to allowing someone unfamiliar to tinker with their intellectual material.
