“Champions” mode unveiled for F1 2012


Today developer Codemasters announced that their upcoming formula-one racer F1 2012 will include a new play option for fans to enjoy titled “Champions” mode.

Champions mode will reportedly have players challenging each of the six current FIA Formula One world champions who are competing in the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship this year. Challenges will take place “in individual race scenarios designed for quick play and instant action” according to Codemasters.

In champions mode, players will take on champion F1 racers Kimi Räikkönen, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher. Each champion will reportedly have his own race scenario that players must complete in order to move onto the next challenge.  Complete all six challenges and you win.

A playable version of the game as well as the champions mode will be available to those who visit Gamescom this year August 15th to 19th in the NamcoBandai booth. F1 2012 is scheduled for a September 2012 release, coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC platforms.
