Revolution Software have announced that they will be working on a sequel to their critically acclaimed point and click adventure game Beneath a Steel Sky (source:develop).
The developers had initially claimed that they would begin development on the game only if the Kickstarter for their current project, Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse, reached $1 million. They didn’t quite reach that target (they managed to raise around $800,000), but Revolution, being the champs they are, said they’re going to start working on the game anyway, with development set to begin once Broken Sword is released.
Beneath a Steel Sky was released in 1994 to critical acclaim, and introduced point-and-click adventure players to a post-apocalyptic cyber-punk Australia, ravaged by faction driven hostility. The game featured deep political themes, and the artwork of acclaimed comic book artist Dave Gibbons. You can download the original game for free, while the remastered edition can be purchased for the iPhone through the app store for $2.99.
Beneath a Steel Sky 2 will be developed for iOS, Android, PC, OSX and Linux. Revolution are also considering the possibility of a console release further down the line.
