Long in development, but still not released due to financial obstacles in the past, Instellar Marines is finally going to be launched (with a little luck perhaps) with the help of Kickstarter. Independent developer Zero Point Software launched their Kickstarter campaign only six days ago, but they have already raised nearly $83,000 (at the time I’m writing this) of their $600,000 goal.
The game has been looking for a publisher to cover costs since 2008, when they brought the game to GDC in the hopes of finding a suitable home. As explained in their Kickstarter campaign video, they were in talks with several large publishers, however as you might be able to tell by now, they were unable to come up with the finances to license the necessary game engine.
