Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 is out today for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC platforms, and it has been receiving almost universal praise from various review outlets. You get to play as Jason Brody (and thankfully not Adrian Brody from his tropical romp, Predators), as you fight your way through a vast, mysterious island. Plenty of options are offered to the player: you can choose who to befriend and who to battle, and you can be sneaky or blow everything up to your heart’s content, just like Arnold did in the last hour of Commando! For us lazy folk who don’t want to move, Far Cry 3 is available to purchase right at home, through Ubisoft’s Uplay shop or through the PSN for PS3 users. As with all current Ubisoft titles, you can earn rewards by doing various in-game challenges and obtaining Uplay Units (like Achievements, but you can spend them and actually get something worthwhile). PC users can use the new Uplay PC Party System to host multiplayer games and find friends, all while communicating their various “HUZZAHS!” to each other upon each joyful enemy detonation. In January (just in time for my birthday!), a co-op pack will be released exclusively for owners of the PS3 version, at no extra charge. Entitled Far Cry 3: High Tides, this DLC will contain around 10 extra missions and 4 character skins, so you can make Jason all pretty-like. A list of Uplay rewards is located here, and you can get a lot of information, screenshots, and videos at the game’s official page.
