Blizzard abandons the idea of Team Deathmatch for Diablo III

Eurogamer has reported that after weeks of wrestling with the idea through several playtests, Blizzard have finally announced that they will not be including Team Deathmatch in Diablo III’s yet-to-released PvP mode.

Diablo III’s Design Chief, Jay Wilson, said that “simply fighting each other with no other objectives or choices to make gets old relatively quickly”, and that “while some found it entertaining, most of our testers didn’t feel like it was something they’d want to do beyond a few hours”.

He went on to say that Team Deathmatch may be included some time in the future, but that they are now focusing on a replacement that is supposedly more reflective of the Diablo experience with an emphasis “beyond just defeating other players”.
