Today’s WiiU Direct focused on several titles to be released soon, two of them being the newest installment of Legend of Zelda and the underground Zelda classic, Wind Waker HD! They’re saying that it’s a remake and currently does not have an official title, however it should be released sometime Fall of 2013. They were particularly vague on the improvements that would consider it to be titled a “remake”, but one can only think it would entail co-op or some special features with the GamePad. Nintendo also promises improvements to graphics and enhanced gameplay, giving us the ability to switch solely to the WiiU’s GamePad so the TV can be free for everyone else to use.
In addition to Wind Waker HD, Nintendo expanded some details on the release of Bayonetta 2, and Xenoblade.
And perhaps even more exciting, producer Eiji Aonuma said that Nintendo’s mission for the new Legend of Zelda game is to “rethink the conventions of Zelda”. Refreshing for some and exasperating for others, Nintendo is looking for plans to have players complete dungeons in specific order and removing the need of multi-player connections to get the most out of the game. They tried to confront these options with Skyward Sword but it seems they ran out of time. Nothing specific yet, but Aonuma promises that they will update us on the new Legend of Zelda game as it develops! Below is this morning’s complete WiiU Direct announcement!
