Harmonix announced plans on the Rock Band blog to stop releasing DLC for Rock Band after its April 2nd release. They have managed to release new DLC for an impressive 275 consecutive weeks, totaling over 4,000 songs.
According to Harmonix, they decided to pull the plug on Rock Band DLC so their developers can concentrate on upcoming titles that are under development. Though there is no additional content planned after April 2nd, they will be releasing some additional tracks for Rock Band Blitz, Pro Guitar upgrades, and some additional artists that have not appeared in Rock Band yet.
As a Thank You to their loyal fans, Harmonix is currently running a sale on over 1,000 Rock Band tracks.
“We hope that you’ll all agree that this has been a tremendous run, and you should know it’s a ride that we at Harmonix have been thrilled to be a part of. We’re going to continue to support the forums and RockBand.com and hope to still see you rocking out online,” read the statement from Harmonix.
