Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment announced today through Game Informer that Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on October 25th this year. In the next game of the popular Batman: Arkham series, the story will take place in the early days of Batman’s career where he faces his famous villains for the first time.
The cover of Game Informer also reveals the main villain of the game- Deathstroke. First time being in the game franchise, Deathstroke is said to lead “eight of the best assassins in the world” to attack Gotham City on Christmas Eve.
The game is not being developed by Rocksteady Studios this time around, but by Warner Bros’ very own WB Games Montreal. The game will still use the Unreal engine, and at the helm will be creative director Eric Homes, famous for IDW’s Transformers miniseries.
Batman: Arkham Origins will be available on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Presumably, the next-gen consoles as well, although there was no mention of it in the press release. There will also be a separate game called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the handheld consoles 3DS and PS Vita. The game, which is being developed by Armature Studios, takes place chronologically right after the console game. Blackgate is set for an October 25th release as well.
