BIT.TRIP Runner 2 decides not to sprint past Europe as it hits the European Wii U eShop today

Independent development studio Gaijin Games has finally announced that their latest game, BIT.TRIP Presents… Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (which henceforth shall be called Runner 2 because that title is too damn long), is now available for download on the European Wii U eShop. The sequel to the IGF award winning BIT.TRIP RUNNER and prequel to BIT.TRIP FATE, Runner 2 takes place right after Runner 1, as the DASHING CommanderVideo and his friends pursue the evil Timbletot before being sucked into an unknown dimension because of those darned reality un-fusion beams.

Runner 2 features 5 beautiful new worlds with a unique art style to run, jump, kick, and dance your way through, as well as 25 retro levels straight out of a NES game to conquer (these levels are so pixelated, they make my inner 9-year-old self cry and squeal with joy). Collect bars of pure gold to unlock various costumes for your 8 characters, including Unkle Dill, Whetfahrt Cheesebörger, and the ever sexy CommandgirlVideo (who I always assumed was just CommanderVideo in drag). The Wii U version of Runner 2 also includes the option to play the game entirely on the GamePad without even needing a television screen at all, which is perfect because some levels are so frustrating and tough, players will need to take a dump JUST TO CALM THEMSELVES DOWN.

Runner 2 can be yours right now for €11.99. More info on the game can be found on its website. Check out the official trailer below, which showcases the game’s beautiful artwork!
