“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is the motto at EA Sports and FIFA as they have decided to extend their partnership well into the foreseeable future. Following their announcement a few weeks back of their next edition of the series, FIFA 14, EA Sports has now announced that they have come to an agreement with FIFA to extend their licensing agreement until 2022. They begun their partnership 20 years in 1993 and they will continue to go into the next decade. This agreement allows them to publish a FIFA game yearly, games based on the Euro Cup and World Cup and their FIFA Street series.
The series has been extremely successful by selling millions of copies worldwide and receiving a large amount of critical acclaim. On a weekly basis there are 65 million games played worldwide. The game is not only available on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but also is available to play on the go on iOS devices and the PS Vita.
This news is good news for fans of the series who have been worried that EA Sports would pull their most successful game from their line-up. This is obviously not true, but still, it’s good to know that we’ll have EA Sports award-winning FIFA games around for the foreseeable future.
