Day Z stand-alone public Alpha tests to begin this June

GameSpot has revealed that limited-access Alpha tests for the stand-alone version of Day Z have finally begun.

Quoting Dean “Rocket” Hall’s interview with Gamasutra, the website revealed that access keys to a very early version of the game have been given “as a gift to the forum moderators, the Reddit moderators, people who helped out with DayZ development”.

It has also been revealed that the game will follow a release model similar to Minecraft, and games released through Steam’s Early Access program. A low-priced Alpha version of the game will be released to the general public shortly after June, while later refined versions will come at a slightly higher price point.

No release date for the full standalone version of Day Z has been confirmed as of yet.
