The New Super Smash Bros. game coming to Wii U and 3DS in 2014 will feature at least two new playable characters, Nintendo announced this morning.
While Animal Crossing has been featured as a stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this is the first time that a villager from the game will join the fray. Meanwhile, Mega Man makes a flashy entrance and if the trailer below is any indication, it looks like he’s brought along a bunch of upgrades from his enemies.
Mega Man isn’t a Nintendo creation, but this isn’t the first time an “outsider” has joined in the Smash Bros. fun. Sonic and Solid Snake were playable in Brawl, but it’s unclear if the two will return for the new iterations.
Right now, the only characters we can confirm are Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Bowser, Fox McCloud, Kirby, Samus, Pit, Pikachu, Mega Man, and the Animal Crossing villager.
The game seems to features a mix of cell-shading and more traditional 3D modeling, which is a nice touch considering the varied game environments from which the fighters of Super Smash Bros. hail.
