Intel and Turtle Entertainment announced this morning two dates for Season 8 of its Intel Extreme Masters tournament. Starting July 25th through the 28th, Intel Extreme Masters tournament will open up it’s eighth season at ChinaJoy in Shanghai, China (think E3, but presumably with much more neon). The tournament then lands state side for the Masters event at the 2013 New York Comic-Con.
“New York and Shanghai both really represent what we are creating with the Intel Extreme Masters: diversity and a truly multi continent approach to the eSport phenomenon.” said Michal Blicharz, Director of Pro Gaming at Turtle Entertainment.
While China has been hosting large and illustrious gaming tournaments since their inception, this marks only the 6th Masters event in these United States. This will also be the third time in which such an event takes place at New York Comic-Con, taking place this year on October 10th-13th.
Can’t take a weekend jaunt to Shanghai to see the stars battle it out for the coveted Intel Extreme Masters Trophy? Fear not, they have you covered; Twitch and video-on-demand will be live streaming both events.
No specific titles been announced for the event, but be on the look out for a MOBA title and an RTS. Although nothing is official, my estimate is that they will be the most prominent of the bunch in their respective styles (StarCraft II and League Of Legends).
