If you are anything like me, your Monday night consists of FEVERISHLY waiting for new episodes of Adventure Time and Regular Show to air, because CARTOONS! You also probably like videogames a lot. Good news: cartoons and videogames go together like chocolate and rainbows, which is why publisher D3Publisher and developer WayForward are making two videogames off of these shows to hit gaming consoles this autumn, in Europe, the U.S., and Australasia.
The first game on our list, lovingly titled Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!, is the follow-up to developer WayForward’s first Adventure Time game, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!! Once again, WayForward is working closely with series creator Pendleton Ward to create a new adventure for Finn, Jake, and the gang, as they explore a massive Secret Royal Dungeon deep below the Land of Ooo in order to save the Candy Kingdom. Four-player co-op and voice work from the cartoon are the main draws here, as well as the ability to play as Finn, Jake, Marceline, Cinnamon Bun, AND MORE (fingers crossed for the option to play as Professor Pants!). Expect Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! this autumn, for the 3DS, WiiU, 360, and PS3.
Not to be overshadowed by its brethren with an earlier time slot, Regular Show is getting its first game adaptation in the form of Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby In 8-Bit Land. Help local park groundskeepers/total stoners Mordecai and Rigby make their way home to their beloved park after a mishap forces them to take part in some of their favorite videogames (I bet none of this would have happened if they had just done their jobs and not slacked off, but who cares, ADVENTURE!). WayForward is also behind this title, as they work with Regular Show‘s creator, JG Quintel, in order to make this adventure the most un-regular journey ever. Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby In 8-Bit Land will also be out this autumn, exclusively for the 3DS.
Olivier Comte, Senior Vice-President at main publisher NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe, had this to say about these two beloved animated TV shows getting videogame adaptations:
“We are very excited to extend our partnership with Turner CN Enterprises, via our sister company D3Publisher, with two exciting titles based on the famous Cartoon Network animated shows, Adventure Time and Regular Show. Following the success of these two TV shows, we are delighted to bring truly authentic video game experiences to Europe and Australasia that will please fans of all ages.”
Trailers for both games can be found below (I especially like the smooth character swaps and multiple gameplay modes for Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby In 8-Bit Land). ALGEBRAIC!
