Activision set to release six Wii U games this fall

Activision threw some support out for the Wii U today when it highlighted six games that they have set for release this fall. The six games that were spotlighted are: Call of Duty Ghosts, Angry Birds Trilogy, Angry Birds Star Wars, SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge, Wipeout Create and Crash and Skylanders SWAP Force. This should be considered good news for people that own the Wii U, as it shows that the system will be receiving some third-party support for the foreseeable future.

CEO of Activision, Eric Hirshberg, said in a statement, “As we have said before, we’re committed to doing everything we can to support the Wii U, which is why we’re excited to be bringing some of the most popular entertainment franchises in the world to the platform this year. The Call of Duty franchise continues to be one of the most powerful forces in gaming and Skylanders continues to enchant new fans around the world.  Our studios have been hard at work creating brand new immersive experiences perfectly suited to the Wii U platform and our fall lineup has something for everyone.”

This is all well and good for this fall, but the proof of Activision’s dedication to the Wii U will become more apparent next fall, when the new consoles from Microsoft and Sony are the primary consoles being developed for. Right now all the games they have set for release on the Wii U are also getting versions for the current-gen consoles, so it will be interesting to see what happens when Activision stops making games for the current-gen.
