Game Over(load)?

For the first time in my life I feel like I’ve been experiencing something I never expected to. Completely overwhelmed with the number of quality games available. I have realized that I can’t possibly make time for every single game that I would like to play. In the current age of the highly competitive video game industry it seems like there is a constant plethora of games out to catch our attention. Every month new releases fill stores and online distribution services such as Steam, Xbox Live and the Playstation Network.

In the last year I have spent time in between Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, ¬†State of Decay, Battlefield 3, ¬†Grand Theft Auto IV (okay, not new but still a favorite of mine), Saints Row 3 and a couple other less memorable titles. There have been a number of AAA titles I would have liked to play such as Far Cry 3, Infamous 2, and The Last of Us released (just to name a few) that I haven’t delved into simply because I wasn’t willing out to shell out more money on games or just don’t have the time (I’m not going to lie, sometimes I just don’t feel like gaming either – even when I do have the time).

Every time there is a Steam sale there is a crazy number of games available for cheap, and I have to resist buying a whole bunch because I know I won’t get around to playing half of them. Hell, I haven’t gotten to half the games on my current Steam library.

Not to mention, there are a growing number of free-to-play titles for PC, PS3 and Xbox to compete for your playing time as well. The kid in me that still remembers waiting patiently for a good new game to come out for the NES seems baffled that I actually have to make somewhat serious decisions on what games I should play to make the best of my free time.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the massive amount of games available? Or just wish that you had more time to play the games? Perhaps you just can’t afford all the games you are interested in? Let us know in the comments section below, we’d love to hear from the community.
