Activision and Treyarch announced that the fourth and final Call of Duty: Black Ops II DLC will be coming to the Xbox 360 first (as per the agreement between Microsoft and Activision) on August 27th. Entitled ‘Apocalypse,’ the final piece of DLC will contain four multiplayer maps consisting of two all-new maps and two re-imagined maps as well as a brand new Zombie map.
The four multiplayer maps are:
Pod: A brand new map set in an abandoned residential utopian community from the 70’s on a cliff side in Taiwan full of rundown housing pods.
Frost: The second of the two new maps, it allows players to fight it out in a snow-covered European city where a bridge over the frozen canal separates it in to two sides.
Takeoff: A re-imagining of the map ‘Stadium’ from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops ‘First Strike’ DLC.
Dig: Originally found in Call of Duty: World at War, this map is a re-imagining of ‘Courtyard.’
The Zombie map is going to be called ‘Origins,’ and will feature a cinematic intro set to the music of an Avenged Sevenfold song called ‘Shepherd of Fire’ off of their new album ‘Hail to the King.’ On top of that, one of the best illustrators and painters in comics, Alex Ross, will be providing original art that will be featuring the original Zombies heroes. If you do not know who Alex Ross is, or why you should care about what he does, go here and browse through some of the work he has done over the years, it is incredible.
The new Zombies campaign is set in a stylized version of World War I-era France and marks the return of the four characters Tank, Nikolai, Takeo and Rictofen from the original Zombies map. The story will explore ‘Element 115’ and the origins of the Zombie story while also giving players the chance to try and survive waves of the undead and a 1000-foot-tall robot. The map will feature era-specific weapons, new perk machines and power-ups, a Mark IV tank, diesel-drones and Wonder Weapons that harness supernatural abilities.
The ‘Apocalypse’ DLC will be available on August 27th for immediate download on the Xbox 360 for those that have purchased the Season Pass and will be sold for 1200 Microsoft Points to everybody else. ‘Apocalypse’ will be available later for other platforms.
