And the winner is…

Indie bliss has officially ended as the annual Indiecade came to a close on Sunday, October 6th. What a festival! So, many great titles were shown off.  Big hitters Sony and Nintendo also were showcasing upcoming games.  The Oculus Rift team was also present, blowing people’s minds one VR demo at a time.  There was a perpetual line at their booth, but now that the dust has settled their can be only one…

That one is, Quadrilateral Cowboy, winning the prestigious Indiecade Grand Jury Award. This honor is awarded by voting members of an international panel.  For those of you that don’t know, Quadrilateral Cowboy is an awesome puzzle game from Blendo Games that takes place in the 80’s where you are a hacker with a “top-of-the-line hacking deck armed with a 56.6k modem and a staggering 256k RAM”!  Yes, that is some heavy hardware to wield, but your arsenal will also include numerous other items.  Check it out!

Several other awards were given out as well.  Take a gander:

  • Audio: Gone Home – The Fullbright Company

  • Audience Choice Award: Slash Dash –  Nevernaut

  • Media Choice Award: TowerFall – Matt Makes Games

All in all Indiecade was a great success.  These innovative games are what’s going to add fresh ideas to this industry and I am very excited to see this event grow every year it is put on.  If you get a chance, try to play one or even all of these games.  It will be worth your time!
