Ubisoft announced today that their one billionth Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Pirates, is now available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and select high end smartphones and tablets on the App Store, on Google Play and on the Amazon Appstore for £2.99 ($5). To celebrate, Ubisoft has released a launch trailer full of seafaring goodness and an infectious beat that cannot be contained:
Set in 1716, Pirates sees players take on the role of Alonzo Batilla, as he searches to find famed pirate La Buse’s legendary treasure. Alonzo will meet other famous pirates like Blackbeard, Bellamy and Hornigold, and will also get caught up in the whole Templars versus Assassins business that the series is known for (I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a twist and Alonzo was a Templar THIS WHOLE TIME).
Using their tablets or phones, gamers will manage their crew, upgrade their ship, and fight devastating naval battles in real time as the foam splashes from their screens (probably). Ubisoft has created a new mobile engine for Pirates that promises 3D visuals that will bring the islands and oceans of the Caribbean to life, until someone interrupts your play with a phone call.
More information about Assassin’s Creed Pirates can be found at its website. Is anyone setting sail for mobile pirating today?!
