ModDB is a great site for all your mod needs. While it doesn’t have the custom feel that the Nexus sites have, it still has tons of mods which creators can upload and users can try.
Every year, ModDB comes out Mod of Year awards for the top mods, and this year was no different. So who took home this year’s gold medal?
Just Cause 2: Multiplayer mod has been voted as the 2013 Mod of the Year. Over 140,000 people voted this year, and it is hard to overlook the universal praise for the mod. I have yet to try it, but this may push me to give it a look now.
Runner-up to Just Cause 2: Multiplayer was No More Room in Hell, a Half-Life 2 co-op survival mod that looks pretty freakin’ scary. Coming in 3rd place is Rise of the Reds, a Command & Conquer: Zero Hour mod which was actually started back in 2004.
Here are the remaining games that made the top ten list this year as voted by the players:
10. Wyrmstooth – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
9. Fallout: Project Brazil – Fallout: New Vegas
8. A Clash of Kings – Mount & Blade: Warband
7. Crusader Kings 2: Thrones – Crusader Kings 2
6. Underhell – Half-Life 2
5. Project Reality: Battlefield 2
4. Brutal Doom – Doom
I have played both Wyrmstooth and A Clash of Kings, and both are incredible mods for their respective games. I have already sunk enough hours into Skyrim and Mount & Blade: Warband, but mods give them new life, and therefore many more game hours. It should also be warranted that the modding community is probably trying to make up for the awful choices in the two Game of Thrones games that have been released.
If you have any of these games and are highly into modding, go check them out and support those mod creators at www.moddb.com/events/2013-mod-of-the-year-awards/features/mod-of-the-year-2013.
