A 2013 message from the Editor-in-Chief of TVGB

Greetings readers! 2013 has been quite a year, with the release of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One dominating the year’s headlines. There were also some other great news stories of the year, which you can check out in our “Best Moments in Gaming 2013” list written by yours truly.

While it would have been easy for us to throw in our 2 cents on what the 2013 “Game of the Year” was, we decided not to. Honestly, that is up to you, the reader. What game did you thoroughly enjoy so much this year that it consumed most of your waking thoughts and free time? There are some obvious choices in The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite, and Grand Theft Auto V, but what about Dota 2? Pokemon X and Y? Papers, Please, perhaps? These all deserve accolades, so we won’t dwell on it.

But maybe you are a mobile gamer and thought there were some awesome games for Android and iOS. Staff writer Noe Ponce took us through his top Android and iOS games of 2013, so you should check those out if you are looking for some games to burn through on your holiday break. Here are the links:

Although it is nice to dwell on the past year, it’s also time to look forward to the new year, 2014. What’s on the horizon for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? Well, you can always count on exclusives for each console, and staff writer Joshua Lockwood went ahead and outlined what you can expect in the coming year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One exclusivity. Because we aren’t a huge corporate site that has an agenda, we also get a chance to look at games that may not be on the big radar. Senior staff writer Nick Christophi let us in on “5 space sims to watch out for in 2014“. While the unfortunate news from Hello Games has the company looking at massive flood damage to their studio, let’s hope No Man’s Sky makes it in time for a 2014 release.

This time of the year is generally slow with gaming news, so site updates have been relatively infrequent as a result. With the new year right around the corner, we here at TVGB are looking forward to what’s ahead.

So from all of us at TVGB… HAPPY NEW YEAR!
