Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor takes combat and boss fights to the next level with the revolutionary Nemesis System. No longer will players simply go to X and kill Y. With the Nemesis System, decisions that the player makes in-game affect how the rest of the game plays out.
In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
players play as Talion, a Ranger out for revenge. His enemy is Sauron and his Black Captains for brutally destroying everything Talion once cherished. Talion, himself, actually was killed but was brought back to life by a spirit of vengeance.
Out for blood and now possessing wraith-like powers, Talion begins systematically hunting Sauron’s forces to avenge those he lost. Here’s where the Nemesis System kicks in. Enemies that cross Talion’s path, and are lucky enough to continue living, won’t soon forget it. Next time they meet, custom dialogue and the player’s previous actions with that enemy come into play. If the gamer chose to show the enemy mercy, the enemy may in turn come to help Talion out at a future point. However, if the enemy was defeated, disgraced or humiliated by Talion in any way, then their next encounter may turn into a heated bloodbath. See the Nemesis System in action in the gameplay trailer below.
Finish out Talion’s quest for revenge in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 or Windows PC. Stay tuned for more details to come, as the game has yet to be released and the release date is still unknown.
