Butch and Sundance. Han and Chewie. Batman and Superman (when the former isn’t tricking the latter into taking a nuclear missile to the chest). Great team-ups all, but none quite as awesome – well, as ivy league educated anyway – as Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright.
Co-developed by Level-5 and Capcom, Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney launched in Japan in 2012, but is finally making its way west. Their first crossover adventure sees the the two eponymous super sleuths spirited away to Labyrinthia, a world overseen not by an androgynous rock star in alarmingly revealing tights, but by a shadowy figure known only as the Storyteller who writes the future of the world with his pen. There’s mysteries to solve, puzzles to crack and fingers to point. Basically, the hallmarks of both successful series. It coulda used some Miles Edgeworth, but no game is perfect.
Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney launches March 28 exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.
