South African indie developer Tasty Poison Games, developer of Pocket RPG, is looking to kickstart a dungeon-crawling action-adventure crafting-centric shoot ’em up with RPG elements. Whoof. Think Torchlight meets Ratchet and Clank with all the visual charm that implies.
The game, Tom Sparks and the Quakes of Ruin, has players take on the role of a mustachio’d engineer jumping, dodging and rolling his way through a series of underground locales while bringing the fight to the ornery indigenous life. Guns level up as you progress, turning one steam-punk pistol into two! And presumably other weapons receive fancy attachments through use as well.
With an aesthetic described as “diesel-punk” by it’s creators, the gameplay seems to focus on evading enemies and alternating between guns to deal with different critters unique abilities. Though the game is only about $2,000 toward’s it’s $50,000 goal (and features some lofty stretch goals), there’s still a good half month for it to close that gap.
If demi-victorian action adventure with TOO MANY GUNS sounds like your deal then you can check out the Kickstarter page here. Also, as is often prudent with crowd-funding nowadays, you can check out more of their work on their company website. And if you just love, love, love what you see then they’ve got a Steam Greenlight you can vote for which features a downloadable demo.
