Tecmo Koei has announced that the tactical action game Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is slated to be released this Fall on the PS4, PS Vita, the Xbox One, and make a return to the PS3. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate will give fans a brand new experience as they plunge into new generation console features with new storylines and scenarios.
In case you’re concerned it will simply be a rehash of WO3, never fear. With enough new gameplay content promised to increase the depth of replayability, they have also included special crossover characters and battle stages from Atelier, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and a very special guest from the Soulcalibur series: Sophitia.
- Oh yeah…you’ll be busy for a little while with this game.
With a whopping 145 playable characters at your fingertips you will also be thrown a few pleasing cameos including Xu Shu from Dynasty Warriors and Rachel from Ninja Gaiden, with the promise of more to come!
As you fight in wide-sweeping landscapes, it will be “one warrior against a thousand battles” as up to 100 enemies (with progressive AI) fill the screen and come at you all at once. Only employing your combinations of skills and characters can save you. New moves such as aerial special attacks and Triple Rush (a special attack allowing you to switch between individual characters or launch one large multi-attack complete with a devastating finishing move) will come in handy as you wade through more than 51 unique and stunning stages. And just for fun, Musou Battlefields allow you to customize certain character models and even their battle cries.
As promised for fans of Warriors Orochi 3, a new storyline has been implemented after the death of Demon Snake that has opened up new side stories, creating a host of new scenarios and secrets to uncover. This allows players to view the battles from a different point of view including specialized “what if” stages that have been spread through a parallel world.
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate boasts cross-play and cross save capabilities, where players can co-op and data share and save between PS3, PS4, and PS Vita systems. You can also import saved data from Warriors Orochi 3 from the PS3. You should be able to purchase the PS3 and Vita versions from the Playstation Store for around $49.99 and $39.99 with the PS4 and Xbox One versions retailing for $59.99.
