Kickstarter darling Mighty No. 9 to get animated television show

Keiji Inafune, creator of Dead Rising and Mega Man, has announced that his Kickstarter-backed project Mighty No. 9 will be getting an animated series, due for a Q2 2016 worldwide release.

Aimed at children aged 6 to 11, the television show is being developed by Japanese animation company Digital Frontier, well known for their work on the anime Appleseed and the games Metal Gear Rising and Metal Gear Solid 4. Digital Frontier noticed the massive support Mighty No. 9 received in order to get funded, so they reached out to Inafune to get a cartoon created. The company has decided to pursue its own means to get the show funded, so none of the Kickstarter money that Mighty No. 9 received to get developed is going towards the cartoon.

What do you guys think about Mighty No. 9 getting a cartoon? I’m quite happy the project is getting so much attention and that SOMEONE is making a Mega Man-like game (that someone does not equal Capcom).
