The Great Ace Attorney (or Dai Gyakuten Saiban), a new entry in Capcom’s Ace Attorney series, may feature the infamous Sherlock Holmes as a possible rival for main character Ryuunosuke Naruhodou, according to a leak from Japanese videogame magazine Famitsu.
Creator Shu Takumi has stated that this game, which is set during the Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) draws from his own childhood experiences with reading mystery novels, so for Holmes himself to make an appearance would make sense; he already has all the makings of an Ace Attorney character, given his excellent deduction skills and slightly odd attitude.

The rumour has been corroborated by an image on the official website that shows two silhouetted figures; one of which does bare a slight resemblance to the deerstalker-wearing detective. His sidekick, Watson, will also make an appearance… as an eight year old girl.
It should be emphasised that this is still a rumour and nothing has been confirmed, but the possibility is still strong. Capcom have already said that new information and gameplay will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.
I can confirm, however, that should Holmes appear, he won’t be played by Benedict Cumberbatch (sorry ladies).
