It was something of a surprise when Gearbox Software announced that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, the next game in the popular FPS series, would be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 instead of their newer relatives. But don’t fear, current-gen gamers: both this game and its predecessor/successor, Borderlands 2, are on their way to the Xbox One and PS4 in a bundle called Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. Perhaps not a surprise, but certainly welcome for anyone who might have passed over these games.
Gearbox hasn’t listed any specific technical information, noting only that the game will be in HD. The new versions will also feature four player split screen, a first for the series, and you will be able to import your save files from other versions of the titles (assuming they come from the same console family). Beyond that, the collection will contain all of the DLC that’s been released for these two games, which adds up to quite a lot.
If you want even more than that, you should head to the store quickly and try to pick up the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition, which is pretty much what it sounds like. It contains a full size, smart phone-controlled version of the fan favorite robot, 12 exclusive lithographs, and a steel case. Claptrap plays some lines from the games and has a built-in camera so you can see what he’s up to. There are only 5,000 of these being produced, so time is of the essence. Both this and the normal $60 version of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will be available on March 24th.
